Tigran Hakobyan (b. 1983, Yerevan, Armenia) is a multidisciplinary artist working across various genres and techniques. Hakobyan combines visual depth and psychological movement, where, through attention to the invisible, it becomes visible. He graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts in 2006, after earlier training in a fine arts school.
Hakobyan’s artistic focus lies in exploring the complexity of human inner life. His portraits are constructed through layered materials and emotional depth. When you look at his portraits, you get a sense of both stillness and movement, of both crisp, precise lines and a blurred center, as if the paintings were hypnotizing you with their interplay.
He deliberately leaves his compositions untitled, encouraging viewers to engage with them through their own interpretations and emotional responses. Through carefully chosen color palettes, Hakobyan conveys subtle shifts of mood, inner beauty, and transformation.
Over the past two decades, his work has been exhibited extensively both in Armenia and internationally, including at the National Gallery of Armenia. Between 2008 and 2011, he was represented by Collection’s Gallery of Fine Arts in Carmel, California.
