Arthur Sarkissian (b. 1960, Gyumri, Armenia), currently based in Yerevan, is an abstract painter whose practice embodies the spirit of post-Soviet artistic freedom. Using abstraction as a language of self-expression, he foregrounds the materiality, dynamism, and beauty of paint.
Through dense, spontaneous brushstrokes and richly layered surfaces, Sarkissian intuitively explores texture and consistency, treating paint itself as subject. His canvases are saturated with luminous tones, revealing both the power and flexibility of the medium.
Vibrant colors, bold ideas, unconventional formats, and unexpected combinations converge on canvases that radiate a dynamic energy, infusing the entire space. The presence of each piece is palpable from the moment you enter, felt even before your eyes meet the art itself.
Works such as LA Series #4 highlight his interest in the tactile and structural qualities of pigment, resulting in immersive compositions shaped by a deeply personal vision.
