Alejandro Pantin Gil (b. 1990, Caracas) is a sculptor who transforms discarded books into intricate sculptures. With an architectural background, he treats the book as a physical structure, exploring its sculptural and spatial possibilities beyond its traditional purpose.

Using obsolete publications, Pantin Gil hand-cuts layered sections into pages, creating volumes that suggest anatomical forms reminiscent of Greco-Roman sculpture. The book becomes both medium and object, with depth and rhythm emerging from within.

A key aspect of his work lies in the interaction between form and content. Printed text, colors, and layouts remain visible, actively shaping the final composition and challenging the conventional perception of the book as something to be read purely for its content.

His practice reflects on the transience of knowledge in the digital age, reimagining outdated books as enduring artistic objects and inviting a renewed appreciation for physical media.

Pantin Gil has exhibited internationally, including his solo exhibition “Leer entre Líneas” (Madrid, 2023). His work has been selected for the Reina Sofía Prize at Casa de Vacas (2023, 2024) and Minima Gallery, Mykonos. He studied architecture in Caracas and later completed a Master’s degree in Barcelona.
